Kim Vickers AIFD, CFD
Kim has worked in the floral industry for 31 years, spending 22 of those years here at Cross Creek Florist!
Mrs. Vickers is an award winning designer, and has also served as a panel judge and floral instructor. She has the distinction of being a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers since 1999.
Kim's passion for designing on occasion takes her on journeys outside the workplace. She is often asked to be a guest speaker for area garden clubs and wholesale house programs. Kim also instructs other florists and has appeared on stage at conferences on both the east and west coast.
If asked if she's ready to retire, she will ask you "why would you want to retire from making people smile?" Kim loves every aspect of being a floral designer. "The most important part of her job is conveying someone's feelings and being able to make someone realize just how much they are loved by someone."
Kim's favorite flower is the rose
Wendy's love of flowers has kept her in the floral business for 28 years. She has been with Cross Creek Florist for 15 of those years. Wendy was trained in floral design by her sister Kim (left) the rest, as they say is history.
Mrs. Morton excelled at floral design under her sister's instruction, and went on to become an award winning designer. She won "Designer of the year" with four separate organizations in Virginia and along the East coast.
Wendy takes pride in knowing she plays an important part in making someone's most memorable occasions special. "It's a gift to be able to spend your day making people smile, while doing something you love to do."
In her spare time Wendy enjoys photography, gardening and spending time with family, especially her little sweetie "Lucy". Wendy's favorite flower is the rose
Sarah discovered she had a passion for working with flowers at a young age, and started making silk floral arrangements for friends and family. Later she attended J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College to study Administration of Justice and Floral Design, where she received an Associates Degree in Floral Design.
Sarah has worked as a floral designer for over 14 years. She has been a member of the Cross Creek Florist team since 2016.
When she is not working, Sarah enjoys reading, going dancing, and spending time with friends, family and her dog Dakota. Sarah has a big heart and likes to volunteer with local dog rescue groups as well as volunteer for a Richmond group that feeds the homeless. Sarah's favorite flower is the hibiscus.
Carmen is originally from Germany where she became a floral designer over 20 years ago. She studied the art of floral design and fine art in Germany for 6 years as she completed her masters. Carmen worked at a flower store and attended school while working towards her degree. One of the abilities she acquired in Germany was learning the art of making European "hand tied" bouquets, which takes a great deal of skill to master. Carmen has always possessed a passion to work with flowers and loves to create beautiful arrangements for events or "just because" to make somebody happy.
In 2008 Carmen moved from Germany to the the US with family. She has been a member of the Cross Creek Florist since that time.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters. Carmen's favorite flower is the ranunculus.
